Die Stille Oase

Appartmenthaus des Bibellesebund Österreich

Our cause

The "Stille Oase" was a ruin, when it was found by a retired business man from England, who had promised to give all his energy and strength to serve God.

He recognized the opportunity and bought this construction, put his caravan in the garden and turned it into a house with four apartments. It was hard work for him. After three years it was finished.

His plan was that this house should be available for Christian missionaries and people who can't afford holidays because of their financial situation. He was looking for an Austrian organisation that helps him realizing this project. That's how Scripture Union Austria got involved.

The Scripture Union is a non-denominational, international movement which is working in more than 135 countries all over the world. It`s goal is to encourage people of all agegroups to meet God every day through the bible and praying.

For many years afterwards Mr. Whiteley and his wife ran the house, until they had to quit because of their age. Ricki Eder continued the work until Gisela Hofmans replaced her. Meanwhile a fifth apartment could be built and a new seminar room is available.

We would like the Quiet Oasis to be a place where people, wherever they come from, can find rest and experience the presence of God in their lives.
